Smart And Classy!! Jack's Comments: This wine jumps out at you and announces it is a great drinking wine. It has great young Shiraz elements that are going to get better with age but it is drinking extremely well now! It is displaying excellent plummy and blackcurrant flavours that are ripe juicy and succulent and produce a stunning fruit driven wine. The oak characters are lovely with hints of savoury and chocolate. Overall this was one of the standouts of the Penfolds range I tasted. Winemaker's Comments: This range of wines pays homage to Thomas Hyland. Husband of Georgina Penfold. Through his vision and determination he took Penfolds from its home in South Australia to the world. Ripe, Robust And Generously Flavoured Jack's Comments: A very smart, elegant and classy new release. I always look forward to tasting the new Bin releases from Penfolds. This wine is exceptional. On the palate I got good amounts of ripe plum and cherry with good dark chocolate flavours arriving mid palate. The tannins are broad and cover the mouth giving a great well balanced finish that is very enjoyable. A super wine for the price and is sure to impress. Winemaker's Comments: Colour: Dark plum red. Nose: Assertive chocolate and spice, shrouded in a freshly mixed fruitcake mixture (Irish Christmas cake.) From out of an aromatic mist, scents of olive tapenade, creamy mustard seed and almond may be detected. Oak? Not likely. Palate: Evenly weighted across the palate - facilitated by mouth-coating tannins. A mix of cooked beetroot and liqueur chocolate are intertwined with darkberried fruits.
